Why book this tour: The only butterfly watching tour on the Island with several unique island butterflies to observe. A plus to this tour is that the three walks are out off the beaten track, so you will be visiting and viewing new areas and landscapes. Additionally you can be part of the voluntary Madeira Butterfly & Moth Monitoring Scheme and be an active ecotourist and by doing so, give back to local community. Your contribution is very important.
Areas and Localities: The tour takes place on the central area of the Island, starting on Ribeira Brava Valley up to Serra de Água and the central mountains.
Target Butterflies: Madeiran Brimstone, Madeiran Grayling, Madeiran Speckled Wood, Madeiran Small Copper, Macaronesian Red Admiral, Red Admiral, Speckled Wood, Small White, Clouded Yellow, Painted Lady, Monarch, Common Zebra Blue and Long Tailed Blue. Depending on the season other species can be observed.
Sightseeing:Beautiful views of the southern coast, Ribeira Brava Valley, cultivated terraces on Serra de Água valley, the central mountains, Paul da Serra Plateau and S. Vicente Valley.
Observation Spots: Three spots with flat and easy short walks.
