Why book this tour: An exceptional birding tour to observe many of the Island endemics while exploring the Important Bird Area of the Laurel forest with an excellent value for money. The best tour if your objective is to watch the terrestrial endemic species: Madeira Firecrest and Laurel pigeon. We have added a few more interesting spots to complement your bird sightings.

Areas and Localities: The tour takes place on the central area of the Island, starting on the southern coast on the locality of Lugar de Baixo and continues following Ribeira Brava Valley up to Serra de Água and the central mountains. After the summit is reached we continue our tour descending São Vicente valley to the north coast, midst of the luxurious laurel forest.

Target Birds: Madeiran firecrest, Laurel pigeon, Madeiran Chaffinch, Madeiran blackcap, Macaronesian Kestrel, Madeiran Buzzard, Madeiran Blackbird, Plain Swift, Greenfinch, Yellow-legged Seagull, Madeiran wagtail, Little egret, Grey Heron, Sandpipers, Coot, Common moorhen.

Observation Spots: : Four spots with easy and accessible short walks. One coastal spot, one Mountain, one laurel forest and one mixed farmland/rural.
